Additional Parent
Responsibility Policy
Swimming for SDS is
a privilege for all members and proper parent behavior is essential for a smooth
functioning of the team. Parents, guardians, additional family members, and
their guests are expected to behave in a manner that is courteous to all
members, coaches, swimming officials and other parents. Spectators are an
important part of the athletes’ experience. Our goal is for our athletes to
participate, coaches to coach, officials to officiate and for families and
friends to enjoy the entire swimming event. Respect for everyone is an
essential part. The parent board is committed to this policy. Additional SDS
parent responsibilities are as follows:
-
At the discretion
of the parent board and/or coaching staff parents may be required to have a
parent or guardian present during the entire practice for swimmer’s age 12 and
under.
-
Parents will not
be permitted on deck during swim practice (pursuant to USA Swimming rules).
-
Parents and
guardians are asked to keep other family members and their guests from
entering the restricted pool deck (pursuant to USA Swimming rules).
-
Parents are not to
interrupt the coach during the practice. If a parent has a question for the
coach, they should wait until the practice has concluded.
-
SDS coaches and
the SDS parent board are ONLY responsible for the swimmer 10 minutes prior to
the scheduled practice time, during the entire practice and 10 minutes after
each scheduled practice.
-
Parents will not
be allowed to drop off any other student, guest, family member or other party
at the pool area during practice, unless proper supervision is available.
-
Parents are
strongly encouraged to accompany their swimmer into the pool area prior to
practice. This will reduce any issues that might unexpectedly change the
schedule of practice due to unforeseen emergencies that may force the staff to
close the pool and/or cancel practice.
-
Parents/ Guardians
are encouraged to bring ideas, suggestions and complaints to the board’s
attention. SDS members may submit issues in writing via the payment box
located near the family mailboxes outside the locker room area. Members may
address the board during any regular scheduled meeting. Any issue received by
the board that is not signed by the member or any communication that is sent
anonymously will not be considered a valid point of discussion.
